Section 2
Definition
In this Act, unless the subject or context otherwise requires,–
(a) "Child" means a child who has not completed the age of eighteen years. (b) "Establishment" means any factory, organization, institution, firm, company or group thereof established in accordance with the prevailing law for the purpose of conducting any industry, business or service.
(c) "Manager" means the person who takes the final decision in the activities of an establishment and that term also refers to the person who is appointed to the head position of any part or unit of the establishment so as to exercise the final responsibility or authority.
(d) "day" means a period of twenty-four hours commencing from midnight.
(e) "Week" means a period of seven days commencing from the midnight of Saturday or any other day specified by the Department of Labour.
(f) "Physician" means a physician prescribed by the Department of Labour.
(g) "Certificate of Eligibility" means the certificate given under sub-section (4) of section 7.
(h) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
