: Since it is desirable to establish and operate an armed police force in order to maintain peace and order in Nepal and protect the life, wealth and freedom of the people, Parliament has made this Act in the first year of the reign of Shri 5th Maharajadhiraj Gyanendra Veer Bikram Shahdev.
