Rule 136
Study Allowance
: (1) For those who are sent to study in the following countries as deemed necessary by the Government of Nepal for the development of technical group manpower, daily travel allowance will be given as per prevailing rules for the first fifteen days and then monthly study allowance will be given as follows:-
(a) India :
(1) One hundred and seven United States dollars to gazetted employees,
(2) Eighty US dollars to gazetted employees.
(b) Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Thailand:
(1) One hundred and forty-four United States dollars to gazetted employees,
(2) One hundred and eight US dollars to gazetted employees.
(c) Countries other than clauses (a) and (b):
(1) One hundred and fifty-five United States dollars to gazetted employees,
(2) One hundred and fifteen US dollars to gazetted employees. (2) Regardless of what is written in sub-rule (1), in the case of armed policemen of the technical group studying in Nepal, the study will be given as determined by the Government of Nepal from time to time.
(3) According to sub-rules (1) and (2) before sending for the study, it should be sent only with information about whether or not the arrangements for the necessary expenses incurred during the study can be made from elsewhere and if so, how much can be received.
(4) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-rule (1), in the following cases the following scholarship will be given:-
(a) Half of the rate mentioned in sub-rule (1) for any of the food or lodging expenses.
(b) One-fourth of the rate mentioned in sub-rule (1) for providing food or lodging expenses.
(c) Full or partial expenses at the rates determined by the Government of Nepal, including tuition fees for textbooks and other expenses as recommended by the concerned educational institution for the study. (5) No study allowance will be given after the entire study expenses including board and lodging have been arranged and the period of approved study leave is over.
