(1) In order to protect the rights and interests of consumers, the Government of Nepal shall use the following powers to manage, control and regulate the supply of consumer goods or services -
(a) Making policies related to the quality, pricing and supply arrangements of consumer goods or services,
(b) Create an action plan to monitor, prevent and control monopolies and unfair commercial activities that adversely affect the rights and interests of consumers, and implement the said action plan.
(c) Analyzing and reviewing the demand and supply situation of consumer goods consumed within the country
(d) To make necessary arrangements to prevent price increase by producers, sellers or distributors of consumer goods in an undesirable manner,
(e) Discouraging unfair trade practices that create artificial or inappropriate shortages of consumer goods.
(2) The government of Nepal will make necessary arrangements for the effective implementation of the provisions related to the protection of the rights and interests of consumers, the regularization of supply arrangements and the control of prices and quality of consumer goods and services.
