Rule 37
Provisions related to tenure and appointment
: (1) If any post of the Armed Police Service is vacant and the work of the office is disturbed, the tenure of that post may be temporarily employed.
(2) In the case of cancellation of permanent position in accordance with this rule, only the most senior armed police personnel of one level below who has qualified for promotion to that post will be canceled.
(3) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-rule (2), even armed police personnel who are not eligible for promotion on the basis of length of service may be retained.
(4) An armed police officer who is permanently suspended shall be entitled to use the insignia and all the rights of the post in which he is permanently suspended.
(5) The following bodies or officers of the Armed Police shall hold permanent positions in the following posts:-
(a)   Ministry in the post of Gazetted Armed Police Officer,
(b) Inspector General of Armed Police in the post of Gazetted Armed Police. (6) If the head of the office is absent for any reason, the most senior armed police officer of the same office will act as a substitute for that position.
(7) An armed police officer who has been permanently suspended in accordance with sub-rule (1) or who has worked as an agent in accordance with sub-rule (6) shall receive the salary allowance and ration facilities of the post in which he has been permanently stationed or worked as an agent. However, armed police personnel who work for a period of less than fifteen days will not get such salary allowance and ration facility.
(8) The number of salary and allowances that the armed police personnel who work on a permanent basis or acting as a substitute shall not exceed the number of salary and allowances that they will receive if they are promoted to a higher rank or level.
