(1) Federal prisons established or designated as per section 5 shall be managed by the Government of Nepal and provincial prisons shall be managed by the respective provincial governments.
(2) The management of such prisons shall be administered by the Government of Nepal unless the prisons existing at the time of commencement of this Act are designated by the Government of Nepal as federal prisons or provincial prisons in accordance with sub-section (4) of Section 5. will do
(3) The ministry will perform the work related to the management of prison administrators and other employees in federal prisons.
(4) The work related to the management of prison administrators and other employees in provincial prisons will be done by the provincial government. But until there is a staff arrangement from the state government, the government of Nepal will depute federal civil service employees to manage the state prisons.
(5) The chief district officer concerned will be responsible for the supervision, coordination and security arrangements of the prisons within his district.
