(1) If a chief official is on leave, the most senior officer of the relevant constitutional body shall act as the acting chief officer for the duration of the leave or until such vacancy is filled. But in the case of the Auditor General, the most senior Deputy Auditor General of that department will act as Acting Auditor General.
(2) According to sub-section (1), a person who works as an acting chief official shall receive the same salary and facilities as a chief official for the entire period of being an acting chief official. But just because he is acting chief officer, he will not be entitled to the pension, gratuity, etc. of such position as per this Act.
