Section 161

If a person who has been found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment has been detained or imprisoned during the course of the investigation, he shall be imprisoned only for the remainder of the period of imprisonment as per the judgment.
(2) If it is determined that an offender is imprisoned in connection with an investigation, he will not be sentenced to imprisonment but only a fine, the total amount calculated at the rate of 300 rupees per day of the period of his imprisonment shall be deducted from the amount of the fine to be paid by such offender.
