Rule 41
Work, Duties and Powers of the Lower Secondary Education Passed Examination Committee

(1) The work, duties and powers of the Secondary Education Pass Examination Committee shall be as follows:-
(a) To lay down policy regarding the conduct of examinations,
(b) Permitting schools that have maintained the minimum educational level set by the Ministry to conduct their own school examinations independently or in groups,
(c) Designation of Examination Centres,
(d) Divide the schools into groups and conduct the examination (e) To publish the examination results and to give certificates to the passed examinees,
(f) To determine the examination fee and the remuneration of the person involved in the work related to the examination,
(g) In case of irregularities in any examination center, canceling the examination and re-examination as necessary or closing such examination center,
(h) To take necessary decisions immediately if there is a hindrance in conducting the examination at the scheduled time or publishing the examination result due to natural calamity or any other reason,
(j) Doing other work as prescribed by the ministry, department and directorate.
(1a) While giving certificate according to Clause (e) of sub-rule (1), the examination committee will issue certificate only for the subjects in which the student has passed by adopting subject wise pass system.
(2) The examination committee may form a sub-committee or task force and hand over some of the powers it has received according to sub-rule (1) to that sub-committee or task force or to any official.
