Section 15
Work, duties and rights of the inspector
– (1) The work, duties and rights of the inspector shall be as follows –
(a) to inspect and test as necessary whether the plants, plant produce, biological control agents, beneficial insects or other items which are imported or in the testing area, stored or in transit, are in accordance with the accepted standards,
(b) to inspect or test as prescribed whether imported or exported plants, plant produce, biological control agents, beneficial insects or other items are infected with harmful organisms,
(c) to enter the test area or storage place or any other place at any time and inspect such area or storage place and if necessary, conduct a search as prescribed,
(d) To stop and search containers and vehicles containing plants, plant products, biological control agents, beneficial insects or other items at any place, if necessary, at any time,
(e) If any such plant, plant produce or biological control agent, beneficial insect or other item is found to be infected during inspection or testing as per clause (a) or during inspection as per clause (b) or during inspection as per clause (c) and (d) Treating as needed or ordering treatment for the concerned person,
(f) If the plant, plant product, biological control agent, beneficial insect or other item is not healthy during the treatment or treatment according to clause (e), such plant, plant product or item should be taken under his control or destroyed as specified or returned to the respective country. Immediately notify the organization and do according to the order received,
(g) prohibiting the sale, distribution or use of infected plants, plant produce, biological control agents, beneficial insects or other commodities,
(h) To do other work as specified.
(2) Other procedures related to inspection, testing and treatment as per sub-section (1) shall be as prescribed.
