Section 78
Suspending

(1) If an investigation is to be carried out against an employee under section 74, the officer authorized to order punishment may suspend the said employee until the investigation is completed. But suspension shall not ordinarily take place except in the following circumstances:-
(a) If there is a possibility that he may collect false evidence or conceal evidence against himself, or
(b) If there is a possibility of causing damage to the government by allowing the post to be performed without suspension.
(2) In addition to notifying the employee of the charge of removal or dismissal from the health service, the authority authorized to order punishment may also suspend him.
(3) Suspension of an employee as per sub-section (1) should not normally exceed two months. Within that period, the action taken against the employee should be stopped. In the case of an extraordinary situation, if the action cannot be completed within that period, if the period of suspension needs to be extended, the period of suspension can be extended by one month after taking the prior approval of the authority.
(4) An employee who is arrested and detained on criminal charges involving moral turpitude shall be deemed to have been automatically suspended for the duration of such detention.
