(1) The functions, duties and powers of the Council shall be as follows
(a) To give suggestions to the Government of Nepal regarding the protection of consumers' rights and interests, supply arrangements and the price, quality and purity of consumer goods and services.
(b) To protect the consumers in relation to consumer goods and services, to inform them about the quality of such goods and services, to publicize and disseminate information related to the rights and interests of consumers.
(c) To inform consumers about the price, quality, quantity, purity and unfair commercial activities of consumer goods and services.
(d) Conducting research on protecting the rights and interests of consumers.
(e) To give suggestions to the Government of Nepal regarding changing the existing policy or creating a new policy regarding the protection of the rights and interests of consumers.
(f) Keeping up-to-date national and international information related to the protection of the rights and interests of consumers.
(G) To monitor the rights of the consumers and give suggestions to the Government of Nepal to correct the errors observed during the monitoring.
(h) To do the work as prescribed by the Government of Nepal.
(i) To do other things considered appropriate in relation to protecting the rights and interests of consumers.
(2) The work of the Secretariat of the Council will be supplied by the Ministry.
