Section 9
Tasks, Duties and Powers of the Council

(1) The tasks, duties and powers of the Council shall be as follows:-

(a) To determine the policies necessary for the smooth operation of the nursing business,

(b) Accrediting the educational institution,

(c) Assessing and reviewing the curriculum, admission conditions, examination system and other necessary conditions and infrastructure of the educational institution recognized in accordance with Clause (b),< /p>

(d) To recommend for cancellation of approval to operate such educational institution if it is not found that the criteria determined by the council during the evaluation and review according to clause (c),

(e) To determine the qualification of the nursing practitioner. Registering the names of qualified nursing professionals in the registration book and issuing registration certificates, (f) determining the working hours of nursing professionals, (g) determining the professional code of conduct for nursing professionals and violating such code of conduct. To take action against nursing professionals.

(2) Before giving permission to establish and operate an educational institution, the concerned body shall request consultation with the council. The council will give necessary advice in this regard after examining whether such an educational institution meets the necessary standards and infrastructure or not. On the basis of such consultation of the council, the relevant body will take the necessary decision regarding whether or not to grant permission to establish and operate an educational institution. In the event that approval is granted for the establishment and operation of the educational institution, the notification will be published in the Nepal Gazette.
