Since it is desirable to regulate the sale and distribution of baby food, including the protection and promotion of breastfeeding and the products that replace mother's milk, to provide safe and adequate nutrition for children, the Parliament has made this Act in the twenty-first year of the reign of Shri 5th Maharajadhiraj Birendra Bir Bikram Shahdev.
