Rule 52
Special Provisions on Promotion
: (1) If an Armed Police Superintendent or below has been serving in the same position for at least five years, he will be promoted to a higher rank or level if one month is left before his compulsory retirement. But when promoted in this way, the Deputy Inspector of Armed Police will be promoted to the post of Inspector of Armed Police.
(2) A special post shall automatically be created for promotion as per sub-rule (1) and such post shall automatically be abolished after the retirement of such armed police personnel.
(3) On the recommendation of the concerned promotion committee, the authorized officer may promote to the vacant post one level above the gazetted armed police personnel who have performed the following excellent work and have completed the minimum service period for promotion:-
(a) has done commendable work to increase the dignity, prestige and glory of the nation, the armed police force and the office he serves,
(b) has made a special contribution to the image of the nation and the armed police organization by performing excellent work in various categories in the national and international fields, or
(c) Recommended by the concerned field commander or unit that he has shown bravery in the performance of his duties in the event of armed police action.
(4) The head office shall send written details including the name, position, basis and justification of the armed police personnel who have been promoted in accordance with sub-rule (3) to the ministry within fifteen days of the promotion.
