Rule 40
Period of service required to be a candidate for promotion
: (1) To be a potential candidate for promotion in the Armed Police Service, one must have completed four years of service in a position one rank or level below the rank or level to be promoted. However, if there is a situation where the position cannot be filled only from the position of Senior Deputy Inspector of Armed Police during the promotion to the post of Inspector of Armed Police, the armed police personnel who have completed six years of service in the post of Deputy Inspector of Armed Police will also be selected as potential candidates. In this way, if a candidate is to be appointed for the Deputy Inspector of Armed Police, the service period of the employees working in the Senior Deputy Inspector of Armed Police in the post of Deputy Inspector of Armed Police will also be counted. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-rule (1), the minimum service period shall not apply for promotion to the post of Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police and above.
