In addition to the functions, duties and powers mentioned elsewhere in this Act, the functions, duties and powers of the Department shall be as follows:-
(a) To act as a central authority in relation to weights and measures,
(b)- to maintain standards of units of measurement and to protect such standards,
(c) to maintain traceability according to the international system of standards, (d) to check, to cause to be used for measuring or weighing or measuring-or weighing instruments used for commercial purposes,
(e) Acting on raising public awareness regarding the use of measuring instruments,
(f) In accordance with this Act, the concerned bodies of the province, in coordination with the local level, should monitor, make, (g) If any dispute arises regarding the quantity of measure or weight, to settle such dispute,
(h) providing calibration services, and
(i) Liaison, coordination and cooperation with international organizations related to weights and measures.
