: (1) In the following cases, within seven days of the occurrence of such situation, the authority shall request the appointment of the candidates in the alternative list in order of merit:-
(a)   If the candidate recommended for appointment does not come to collect the letter of appointment within thirty days from the date of receipt of the notice of appointment or the date of publication of the notice or if the appointment is not reinstated within the prescribed period, or
(b) If the post becomes vacant within one year from the date of recommendation by the death of the candidate recommended for appointment or his resignation or appointment to another post. (2) According to sub-rule (1), if there is a demand from the candidate in the alternative list, within fifteen days thereof, the commission will recommend the alternative candidate for appointment according to the order of merit.
