Rule 33
Work, Duties and Powers of the National Curriculum Development and Evaluation Council
The work, duties and powers of the National Curriculum Development and Evaluation Council shall be as follows:-
(a) Determining the policy regarding the creation of curriculum and textbooks to be implemented in schools,
(b) Forming subject committees or sub-committees as required for curriculum development,
(c) To submit the curriculum and textbooks to the Government of Nepal for approval (d) Approving the policy and procedure of curriculum revision,
(e) Determining policy regarding textbook writing, acceptance and use (f) Determining the policy regarding remuneration and distribution of textbook writing,
(g) To take suggestions regarding the curriculum, to form a committee under the chairmanship of the director in each development area, and to appoint a committee under the chairmanship of the District Education Officer in each district, and assign the work, duties and powers of that committee,
(C1) Doing necessary work related to curriculum development and quality (h) To approve the list of additional teaching materials and textbooks,
(J1) Evaluate the approved curriculum and textbooks and recommend them to the Government of Nepal for revision as needed,
(J2) To recommend to the Government of Nepal for approval to teach additional subjects without affecting the total course load of the course approved by the Government of Nepal in schools operated by organizations of a specific nature under the National Education Policy,
(J3) Formulate a policy regarding the approval of multiple textbooks and submit it to the Government of Nepal. (J4) Delegate their work, duties and rights to the Curriculum Development Center as needed (i) Doing other necessary work related to the development of the curriculum and its quality.
