(1) A Nepali citizen who wants to receive any information according to this Act shall submit an application to the relevant information officer to disclose the reason for receiving such information.
(2) If an application is received in accordance with sub-section (1), the information officer shall provide the information to the applicant within fifteen days from the date of receipt of the application, if the information is of a nature that can be provided immediately and if the information is of a nature that cannot be provided immediately.
(3) If information cannot be provided immediately according to sub-section (2), the information officer shall immediately provide the information to the applicant along with the reason.
(4) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (3), if the information officer has requested information related to the safety of life of a person, such information shall be provided to the applicant within twenty-four hours of the request.
(5) The Information Officer shall, as far as possible, provide the information requested by the applicant in the requested form.
(6) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (5), if the source of information is likely to be damaged, broken or destroyed when the information is provided in the form requested by the applicant, the information officer may provide the information to the applicant in an appropriate form after explaining the reason.
(7) If a person has made an application for the study or observation of any document, material or action according to sub-section (1), the information officer shall provide the applicant with reasonable time for the purpose of study or observation of such document, material or action.
(8) When examining the application received under subsection (1), if the information requested by the applicant is not related to his agency, the information officer shall immediately inform the applicant.
