Section 32
Punishment

(1) If it is found that the head or information officer of a public body has not given notice without reasonable cause or refuses to give, partially or wrongly given information or destroys the information, the Commission shall fine such head or information officer from one thousand to twenty five thousand rupees and take departmental action against such head or information officer. If he is in the position, he can be sent in writing to the relevant agency for departmental punishment.
(2) If the head of a public body or the information officer makes a delay by not providing the information on time without reason, he shall be fined at the rate of two hundred rupees per day for the number of days of delay.
(3) If there is a written request from the Commission for departmental action according to sub-section (1), the public body shall take departmental action against such chief or information officer within three months and inform the Commission thereof.
(4) If a person is found to have misused the information obtained from the public body without using it for the purpose for which it was obtained, the commission may fine such person from five thousand to twenty five thousand rupees, considering the seriousness of the misuse of the information.
(5) The Commission may impose a fine of up to ten thousand rupees on a person who does not comply with the decision or order given by the Commission in accordance with this Act.
