(1) If a friendly country issues a letter of appointment of an unpaid consul to a person to act as a consul in a region of Nepal and sends it in writing for approval, the minister or an officer-level employee of the ministry designated by him shall be allowed to work for that period, if the period is specified in the letter of appointment, and if not specified, for three years from the date of issuance of the letter of approval. Will provide acceptance letter.
(2) If a formal letter is received from the concerned friendly country to extend the term of office of an unpaid consul whose term has expired as per sub-rule (1) or for re-appointment, the Ministry may extend the term of office for a maximum of three years or grant a letter of approval for re-appointment.
