In this Act, unless the subject or context otherwise requires,
(a) "Authority" means Assistant Inspector and Police Officer above.
(b) ……………
(c) "Constable" means police constables other than officers.
(d) "Zonal Superintendent" means Senior Superintendent of Police, Superintendent of Police or Deputy Superintendent of Police and the term also refers to an inspector appointed by the Government of Nepal to perform all or some of the duties of Zonal Superintendent by general or special order.
(e) "Police" shall mean a person appointed or deputized under this Act.
(f) "Police personnel" means police officers and constables.
(g) "Subordinate rank" means officers and jawans below the rank of inspector.
(h) "Gazetted Officer" means Inspector and above.
(i) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" shall mean prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
