Section 2
Definitions
In this Act, unless the subject or subject has another meaning-
(a) "Quasi-judicial body" means any other body other than the court which has the power to process and dispose of cases.
(b) "Prescribed" or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
(c) "Council" means reconciliation councils constituted under section 26.
(d) "Party" shall mean the party to the dispute and the term shall include the plaintiff and the defendant in the context of the case.
(e) "Certificate" shall mean a certificate granted under sub-section (1) of section 21 to act as a conciliator.
(f) "Case" means a dispute pending before the adjudicating body.
(g) "Trial body" means a court and the term also refers to a quasi-judicial body.
(h) "Conciliation" means the process adopted by the parties to settle the dispute or issue with the help of a conciliator.
(i) "Conciliator" means a conciliator appointed under this Act to discuss the dispute between the parties to create a comfortable environment and to encourage them to reach an agreement on the matter.
(j) "Local level" means rural municipality or municipality.
