Rule 35
Study Leave
(1) Police personnel who are nominated by the Government of Nepal and are going to study on a scholarship received by the Government of Nepal on subjects useful and necessary for the Center can get study leave throughout the study period.
(2) Police personnel will get study leave for three years once or repeatedly throughout the service period. But if the government of Nepal deems it necessary, it can extend the period of study leave by two years.
(3) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-rule (2), a police officer who has been nominated and taken study leave for the purpose of study shall not be granted study leave for the purpose of studying an additional subject or obtaining an additional degree.
(4) Police personnel on study leave will get full salary.
(5) By-laws for police personnel who go to study at private expense with the prior approval of the Government of Nepal on the recommendation of the chief on matters useful and necessary for the center
According to (2), study leave can be granted.
(6) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-rule (4), police personnel who are on study leave in accordance with sub-rule (5) shall not receive salary for the period of study leave.
(7) Police personnel who have not completed five years of service will not get study leave.
(8) A police officer who takes study leave or goes for training before going to study or training, after completing such study or training, after returning from the study or training, must submit a confession of compulsory service for the following period: (a) Three months to one year
(b) Six months to one and a half years
(c) Nine months to two years
(d) One year to three years
(e) Five years up to two years
(f) Three years up to six years
(g) Seven years up to four years
(h) Eight years up to five years

by police personnel returning from study or training (8) If he does not serve for the period mentioned above, the salary received during the study leave or training period, the expenses incurred by the Government of Nepal for the study, and other amounts mentioned in the contract will be collected from him as well as the government balance. But as per rule 71Such amount will not be recovered from the police personnel who cannot serve for that period due to compulsory retirement.
(10) If the Government of Nepal nominates any police officer for essential training for the implementation of any plan or program, he will be sent as a worker during the training period and he will receive full salary during that period. But such job will be given only for training and no police personnel will be given training job to acquire academic degree.
(11) Once unpaid study leave has been granted to a police officer for study, the period of such leave shall not be converted into paid study leave.
