Section 4
Licensing Provisions
: (1) Companies with the following qualifications who wish to operate multimodal transportation services must submit an application to the department along with the prescribed application fee:-
(a) Having paid up capital of at least one crore rupees in the name of the company,
(b) Having branches, official agents or representatives of his company in at least two countries outside the state of Nepal,
(c) Having the specified manpower, material assets and other managerial capabilities.
(2) Upon investigation of the application made under sub-section (1), if it is deemed appropriate to grant the applicant a license to operate multi-modal transportation service, the department will issue the license within sixty days of receiving the application for the license after receiving a deposit of twenty five thousand rupees.
(3) If it is found that the license cannot be granted according to the petitioner's demand during the investigation according to sub-section (2), the opening department shall inform the petitioner within sixty days of the receipt of the application.
(4) The duration of the license granted under sub-section (2) shall be five years. After the expiry of that period, if the licensee wants to renew the license, he can renew the license by submitting it to the prescribed customs department.
