Section 16
Notice to be given to the owner of the deed

(1) If the owner of a promissory note does not come to collect the loan and interest within one hundred and eighty days of the expiry of the period for payment of interest, the office shall send a written notice to the home address of the owner of the promissory note to claim the loan and interest of such promissory note and such notice shall be published in a national daily newspaper on the website of the office. Also keep it updated.
(2) According to sub-section (1) to the home address (the date of receiving the notice or the date of publication of the notice in a national level daily newspaper, whichever is later, the right holder shall be deemed to have received such notice.
(3) In case of failure to claim interest and interest on the promissory note within one hundred and eighty days from the date of receipt of notice as per sub-section (2), the office shall retain the payment obligation of the Government of Nepal and deposit the amount due to such promissory note in the fund designated by the Government of Nepal within six months.
(4) If the amount accumulated in the fund as per sub-section (3) comes to be claimed with proper evidence, the office shall pay such amount to the owner of the deed or his rightful owner within thirty five days.
