Article 220
District Assembly and District Coordination Committee

(1) There will be a District Assembly to coordinate between rural municipalities and municipalities within the district.
(2) In the district assembly, the chairman and vice-chairman of the village executive committee and the chief and deputy chief members of the city executive committee within the district will be members. The first meeting of the district assembly will be held within thirty days from the date of receiving the final results of the village assembly and city assembly elections.
(3) The District Assembly shall elect a District Coordination Committee consisting of a maximum of nine members, including one head, one deputy head, at least three women and at least one Dalit or minority. The District Coordination Committee will perform all the work to be done on behalf of the District Assembly.
(4) A member of the village assembly or city assembly within the respective district shall be eligible to be a candidate for the position of head, deputy head or member of the district coordination committee. If the head of the district coordination committee is elected to the position of deputy head or member, the position of member of village assembly or town assembly of such person will automatically become vacant.
(5) The term of office of the head, deputy head and members of the district coordination committee will be five years from the date of election.
(6) The position of head, deputy head or member of the District Coordination Committee shall be vacant in any of the following cases:-
(a) If the Chief resigns in writing to the Deputy Chief and the Deputy Chief or a member resigns in writing to the Chief,
(b) on expiry of his term of office,
(c) In case of his death.
(7) The work, duties and rights of the District Assembly shall be as follows:-
(a) To coordinate between rural municipalities and municipalities within the district (B) To monitor development and construction related work to maintain balance (c) To coordinate between federal and state government offices and rural municipalities and municipalities in the district (D) To perform other functions according to the provincial law.
(8) The operation of the District Assembly, the facilities to be enjoyed by the members of the District Coordination Committee and other arrangements related to the District Assembly shall be in accordance with the provincial law.
