Article 157
Attorney General

(1) There shall be one Attorney General in Nepal.
(2) The President shall appoint the Attorney General on the recommendation of the Prime Minister. The Attorney General will remain in his post for as long as the Prime Minister wants.
(3) A person qualified to be a judge of the Supreme Court shall be eligible for appointment to the post of Attorney General.
(4) The office of the Attorney General shall be vacant in any of the following cases:-
(a) If he tenders his resignation in writing to the President through the Prime Minister,
(b) if he is dismissed by the President on the recommendation of the Prime Minister,
(c) In case of his death.
(5) The remuneration and other benefits of the Attorney General shall be the same as the judges of the Supreme Court. Other conditions of service of the Attorney General shall be as per the law.
