(1) A person who commits an offense under Section 23 shall be imprisoned for up to five years and fined up to five lakh rupees.
(2) A person who commits a crime under section 23 in a place other than a health institution will be punished with imprisonment for an additional year and a fine of up to one lakh rupees.
(3) If a person who does not have a personal license commits a crime under section 23 in a place other than a health institution, such person will be imprisoned for an additional two years and fined up to two lakh rupees.
(4) In the case of the crime under section 23, if the living person whose limb is removed dies within three months due to the same injury, the person who commits such crime shall be imprisoned for life.
(5) Apart from what is written in sub-sections (1), (2), (3) and (4), a person who engages in activities related to organ transplantation contrary to the provisions of this Act or the rules made under this Act shall be imprisoned for one year and fined up to one lakh rupees.
