Need for a new policy

4. The need for a new policy

After the formation of the Constituent Assembly through the elections held together with the peace process that started after the major peace agreement concluded as a result of the ten-year-long people's war and historic people's movement, from the fourth amendment to the Interim Constitution of Nepal, 2063, "Nepal is a federal, democratic republic" Along with the declaration of "State", necessary efforts are being made to bring the peace process to a logical conclusion. As the world is watching Nepal's peace process with interest, as a positive achievement of change, since more than five million tourists visited Nepal in 2007, there have been signs of not only an increase in the number of tourist arrivals in the country, but also an increase in the desire of national and international investors to invest in the tourism business. Recognizing the need to promote tourism for economic change, Since 2065-066, the government of Nepal has announced that tourism policy 2052 will be revised and new tourism policy will be brought by revising tourism policy 2052 so that the policies and programs of all ministries related to its development will be tourism promotion oriented. Expanding and promoting rural tourism activities to bring benefits from tourism services to the local community and people, and for that, search for new tourist spots, identification, development of tourism infrastructure, increase in the quality of services provided to tourists, easy access, safe destination, prolonging the duration of stay. The aspect needs to be addressed by the tourism policy. Along with the earning of foreign currency and the increase in employment opportunities, it seems that tourism should be developed by improving the living standards of the people and linking tourism with poverty alleviation and new economic development. It is necessary to develop the tourism sector in the joint partnership of public, community and private sector as the work of numerical and qualitative growth of the tourism service sector is not possible only from the government sector. In this background, the old policy has to be modified and a new tourism policy has to be brought in order to take tourism promotion to a new height and prepare the foundation of economic change.
