(1) Nepal is an independent, indivisible, sovereign, secular, inclusive, democratic, socialist-oriented, federal democratic republic state. Explanation: For the purposes of this article, "secular" means religious and cultural freedom, including the protection of religious culture that has existed since time immemorial.
(2) The territory of Nepal shall be as follows:- (a) the territory at the time of commencement of this Constitution, and
(b) Area to be acquired after commencement of this Constitution.
