Unless the subject or the context requires otherwise, in this Act, –

(a) “University” shall mean the Eastern Regional University established under section 3.

(b) "Assembly" shall mean the University Assembly as per Section 7.

(c) "Academic Council" shall mean the Academic Council as per Section 10.

(d) "Executive Council" shall mean Means the Executive Council as per Section 12.

(e) “Resources Council” means the Resources Council as per Section 14.

(f) “Dean” means the University. (g) "Campus" shall mean the physical campus of the University and the term shall also refer to the campus affiliated to the University.

(h) "Teacher" It means professors, associate professors, deputy professors and assistant professors who provide education or conduct research in the university, and the term also refers to instructors at various levels of the university and the person designated as a teacher in the rules made under this Act.

(i) "Service Commission" shall mean the Service Commission as per Section 19.

(j) "Academic Council" shall mean the Academic Council as per Section 29.

(k) "Designated" Or "as prescribed" means prescribed or prescribed in the rules made under this Act.
