(1) In any of the following cases, the post of Head of the State shall be vacant:-
(a) If he tenders his resignation in writing to the President,
(b) If his term of office expires or if the President dismisses him before that,
(c) In case of his death.
(2) In the event that the position of the provincial head of a province is vacant, the president may appoint the provincial head of another province to perform the functions of that province as well, until the appointment of the provincial chief.
