(1) A prisoner may be transferred from one of the prisons managed and operated by the State Government to another prison within the concerned State under the conditions specified by the State Government.
(2) When a prisoner is transferred from one prison to another in accordance with sub-section (1), the information thereof shall be given to the department.
(3) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (1) and (2), the department may transfer a prisoner from one state prison to another state prison or from a state prison to a federal prison or from a federal prison to a state prison. But prisoners in open jails or special jails can only be transferred to jails of the same nature.
(4) According to sub-section (1) or (3), the transfer of prisoners shall be coordinated with the relevant prison office. (5) Transfer of prisoners in accordance with this section shall be done through safe and appropriate means of transportation with adequate security and other necessary measures.
(6) According to this section, the prison administrator shall inform the contact person or other members of the family in the record book of the prisoner, and if the legal practitioner of the prisoner requests the information, he shall also give the information to him.
(7) Other arrangements related to prisoner transfer shall be as prescribed.
