Article 86
Constitution of National Assembly and Tenure of Members

(1) The National Assembly shall be a permanent House.
(2) The following sixty-nine members shall be in the National Assembly:-
(a) At least three women, one Dalit from each province in such a way that the weight of the votes of members of the provincial assembly, president and vice president of the rural municipality, and the head and deputy head of the municipality are different according to the federal law by the electoral college consisting of the members of the provincial assembly, the chairman and vice chairman of the rural municipality and the chief and deputy chief of the municipality. and fifty-six elected members, eight including one person with a disability or a minority (b) Three persons including at least one woman nominated by the President on the recommendation of the Government of Nepal.
(3) The term of office of the members of the National Assembly shall be six years. The term of office of one-third of the members of the National Assembly shall expire every two years. However, when the term of office of the members is established for the first time after the commencement of this constitution, the term of office of one third will be two years, the other one third will be four years and the remaining one third will be six years.
(4) When the term of office of the members of the National Assembly is calculated for the first time after the commencement of this Constitution, the term of office of all the members shall be deemed to have started from the day of the first meeting of the National Assembly.
(5) Vacancies in the National Assembly shall be filled for the remainder of the term in the manner in which the election or nomination of the member vacating such position was done.
(6) Other provisions related to the election of members of the National Assembly shall be in accordance with the federal law.
