Rule 64
Method of requesting leave

(1) For the purpose of granting leave, the civil servant shall submit an application to the leave issuing officer through his office in the form of Schedule-13 regarding the period of leave, reason and if he needs to go abroad, and the leave issuing officer shall also notify the leave approval or rejection. Should be given to the employee.
(1a) Out of the leave requested as per sub-rule (1), the following leave shall be approved or rejected within the following period –
(a) Within seven days in the case of home leave and sick leave,
(b) Within sixty days in case of extraordinary leave and study leave (1b)……
(2) If the leave granting officer is satisfied with the following matters, he may approve the leave from a date earlier than the date of application:-
(a) that it was not possible to obtain the prior approval of the issuing authority,
(b) That the petitioner had made every effort to obtain prior approval. However, leave will not be granted in the case of a civil servant who has been absent from his office for ninety consecutive days without sanctioning leave.
(3) When applying for study leave, the following things should be mentioned mainly in addition to other things:-
(a) Description of the subject you intend to study,
(b) details of admission to the university, institution or training center to be studied,
(c) Other necessary details that will be helpful for the Government of Nepal to consider such leave.
