Rule 96A
Teacher Selection Committee

(1) To recommend the appointment of headmasters or contract teachers in community schools, to recommend the appointment of community teachers, other teachers and principals in community-run schools and to recommend the promotion of teachers so appointed, or to recommend the appointment of permanent teachers in institutional schools, to select one teacher as follows in each school The committee will be:-
(a) Chairman of the School Management Committee or a member of the committee appointed by him - Chairman
(b) Officer designated by the school inspector or district education officer of the concerned area – member
(c) If secondary level teachers are to be selected, at least master's degree in pedagogy and if other level teachers are to be selected, two members nominated by the management committee to represent at least one woman from among those who have passed at least bachelor's degree in pedagogy. (d) Principal – Member – Secretary
(2) According to sub-rule (1), in the meeting of the teacher selection committee held to recommend the appointment of the principal, the most senior teacher who is not a candidate for the principal of that school will act as a member-secretary.
(3) The term of office of the nominated members according to sub-rule (1) shall be two years.
(4) The secretariat of the teacher selection committee will be in the respective school.
(5) If the Commission has issued criteria or procedures for selecting teachers, the teacher selection committee shall follow such criteria or procedures.
(6) For the purpose of clause (c) of sub-rule (1), the district education office shall update the list of experts.
(7) The teacher selection committee should place the center of the examination for teacher recommendation at the district headquarters or resource center.
(8) Other procedures related to the meeting of the teacher selection committee shall be as determined by the said committee itself.
