The officer authorized to order punishment under Clause (a) of Section 81 of the Act to the employees holding the following positions shall be as follows :- 97. Chance of suspension and acquittal :- (1) If an employee is to be suspended, the officer authorized to order punishment shall give the relevant employee the letter of suspension and the acquittal in accordance with sub-section (1) of section 88 of the Act.
(2) The officer authorized to order punishment may himself or another officer carry out a departmental investigation in accordance with Rule 98 and take a report with his judgment before demanding an acquittal from an employee.
