3. Purpose

The main purpose of the presented telecommunication policy is to create a favorable environment for providing reliable telecommunication services at reasonable prices throughout Nepal with the participation of the private sector to help the social and economic development of the country. The following objectives have been determined to support the achievement of this paramount objective.

3.1 In order to provide access to telecommunication services to the general public in the rural and urban areas of Nepal, arrangements will be made to provide telecommunication services within the audible distance when calling in residential areas.< /p>

3.2. Telecommunication services will be provided according to demand in urban areas of Nepal. Arrangements will be made to provide professional telecommunication services in the commercial sector.

3.3. Consumers in urban areas will be given the opportunity to choose services from various service providers. In the rural areas too, the arrangement to select the service accordingly will be expanded gradually.

3.4. Arrangements will be made to allow the use of appropriate information and communication technology for the development of rural areas and poverty alleviation.
