Section 256
<br> not to make fake currency
No one shall make or engage in the business of making counterfeit currency.
(2) A person who commits or commits an offense under sub-section (1) shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of five to ten years and a fine of fifty thousand to one lakh rupees, taking into account the amount and value of the currency. Explanation: For the purposes of this section,
(a) "Currency" means all types of currency notes, postal orders, postal notes, money orders, cheques, drafts, travellers' cheques, promissory notes, bills of exchange, promissory notes, credit cards and such words shall be defined by the Bank in publishing and broadcasting public notices as required. Also refers to other similar monetary instruments.
(b) "Counterfeit currency" means currency made in an unauthorized manner, pretending or believing that it has been issued by the Government of Nepal or the Nepal Rastra Bank or a foreign government or an authorized foreign organization.
