Rule 81
Sick Leave
: (1) Every police officer shall be entitled to twelve days of sick leave with pay, allowances and rations every year, except for the days taken when he is injured or falls ill and is admitted to hospital for treatment in the performance of his duties.
(2) A police officer can accumulate sick leave and if he is separated from the service for any reason, he will be entitled to receive a lump sum amount due to his accumulated sick leave at the rate of the monthly salary for which he has been removed from his position. If a police officer dies before being able to take the accrued sick leave amount, the person as per sub-rule (5) of Rule 133 will be entitled to receive the accrued sick leave amount as a lump sum.
(3) Police personnel requesting sick leave for a period of more than five days shall submit a certificate from an approved physician. But if the authorizing officer believes that it is generally not possible to submit such a certificate, he can grant the leave without the certificate.
(4) If the accrued sick leave for treatment of a serious or serious illness is not enough, if a certificate from an approved doctor is submitted, such police personnel can get additional sick leave for a maximum of forty-five days.
(5) The sick leave submitted as per sub-rule (4) shall be deducted from the home leave accrued or later accrued by the police officer taking such leave. When deducting in that way, sick leave will be deducted at the rate of two days from each one day's home leave.
(6) Police personnel under suspension shall not be entitled to sick leave for the entire period.
