Rule 131
Pension
: (1) Police personnel who have worked in the police service for twenty years or more will get pension from the date of retirement. However, the police personnel who were appointed before 2060.12.26 will get pension if they work in the police service for a period of more than the following:
(a) Gazetted Officer – 20 years (b) Senior Deputy Inspector of Police, Deputy Inspector of Police and Assistant Inspector of Police – 18 years
(c) Senior Constables, Constables, Assistant Constables and Constables – 16 years
(2) The calculation of pension to be given as per sub-rule (1) shall be as follows:
(a) On behalf of Inspector General of Police to Inspector General of Police:- Year of employment Last salary 50
(b) On behalf of the police officers below the sub-inspector of police:- Year of employment Last pay 40
(3) Senior police constables and persons below who are receiving pension will be added thirty percent to their pension after reaching the age of sixty years.
(4) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-rule (1), the minimum amount of pension shall not be less than half of the starting point of the pay scale of an existing police employee of the same post and the maximum amount shall not exceed the initial pay scale of an existing police employee of the same post.
(5) In the event of the death of a police officer who has completed fifteen years of service, his family will be allowed to choose which pension or gratuity they want to receive by adding the years required to reach the required service period for pension.
(6) According to the Police Technical Regulations, 2058, a gazetted second or third class police officer who has been newly appointed in the technical group and who has not completed the service period for which he will be entitled to a pension in accordance with this regulation, if he is discharged from the service, he will be entitled to a pension if his service period is extended by four years in order to receive the pension. Government of Nepal can give pension by increasing service period of maximum four years.
(7) The police personnel dismissed from the service due to being disqualified for government service in the future will not get the pension as per this regulation.
