Section 167
Not to be tortured:

(1) An officer authorized to investigate, prosecute, enforce the law or to control, detain or detain in accordance with the prevailing law shall not cause or inflict physical or mental torture on anyone, or conduct or cause to be subjected to cruel, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. (2) A person who commits an offense under sub-section (1) shall be punished with imprisonment up to five years or a fine of up to fifty thousand rupees or both, depending on the seriousness of the offence.
(3) A person who orders to commit an offense under sub-section (1) or a person who assists in committing an offense under this section shall be punished in the same way as the principal offender.
(4) No person who commits an offense under sub-section (1) shall be entitled to claim that he has committed such an offense by obeying the orders of an officer superior to him and he shall not be exempted from punishment for committing such an offense on such grounds.
