Rule 174
Tenure of the subject committee and vacancies of chairman and members
(1) The tenure of each committee under Rule 170 shall be for the entire duration of the House of Representatives. But the speaker can change or reduce the number of members with the consent of the House of Representatives.
(2) The post of Chairman of the Committee shall be vacant in any of the following cases:-
(a) If not a member,
(b) in the case of a Minister,
(c) upon resignation, or
(d) If the resolution is passed by a two-thirds majority of the total number of members of the concerned committee that they have not fulfilled the responsibility of their position honestly.
(3) The position of a member of the committee shall be vacant in any of the following cases:-
(a) If not a member,
(b) in the case of a Minister,
(c) resigns as a member of the Committee, or
(d) If he is not a member of the committee after being changed according to sub-rule (1).
(4) If the post of chairman of the committee becomes vacant, it shall be filled in accordance with rule 173 and if the post of member becomes vacant, it shall be filled in accordance with sub-rule (1) of rule 172.
(5) According to sub-rule (2), if the post of chairman of the committee becomes vacant, it shall be filled within one month of the meeting of the committee.
