3. Purpose

Development and expansion of biological technology and its use in areas of comparative advantage to replace biological technology as a strong basis for country development and environmental protection and public welfare is the paramount objective of this policy to contribute to poverty alleviation. Other objectives of this policy are as follows:

3.1. To support poverty alleviation by meeting the minimum food and nutritious food needs of the growing population. 3.2. Applying biological technology in areas that are comparatively beneficial to Nepal 3.3. To encourage research and development of biological technologies that contribute to the development of internationally competitive and environmentally sustainable forestry, agriculture and food sectors. 3.4. Enhancing managerial skills in the field of biotechnology, attracting qualified researchers and experts, enhancing entrepreneurship and balancing supply and demand for specialist skills. 3.5. Reducing environmental damage and protecting natural resources and resources. 3.6. Develop simple and innovative programs to ensure that research results are converted into commercial applications to contribute to rural and national economic systems.
