Rule 25
Accreditation
(1) According to sub-section (1) of Section 15 of the Act, unless a separate body is formed to perform accreditation-related work, the work related to accreditation will be done by the Standards and Accreditation Directorate and the following Medical Education Accreditation Committee will be formed to assist the Directorate in the work related to accreditation:- A Director, Directorate of Standards and Accreditation - Coordinator b Registrar, Nepal Medical Council - Member c One person nominated by the committee from among the deans of universities - Member d One person nominated by the committee from among the deans of institutes - Member (e) Nepal Medical Council, Nepal Nursing Council etc. nominated by the committee from among the presidents of professional professional councils One person - Member (f) Head of Division (Viewing Accreditation), University Grants Commission - Member (g) Senior Officer, Standards and Accreditation Directorate - Member - Secretary (2) If the educational institution wants to get the educational programs it conducts accredited, as per Schedule-7 The application should be submitted to the Directorate of Standards and Accreditation in the format. (3) According to sub-rule (2), the committee according to sub-rule (1) may conduct a study by itself or the experts of the related subject and conduct on-site inspection as required.
(4) If it is deemed appropriate to accredit the program of the educational institution applying for the study according to sub-rule (3), the Medical Education Accreditation Committee shall recommend to the Directorate of Standards and Accreditation to accredit such educational program.
(5) Based on the recommendations received as per sub-rule (4), the Standards and Accreditation Directorate may accredit any one or more educational programs of the concerned educational institution.
(6) If an educational institution conducting an educational program accredited in accordance with this rule is found to be conducting such program contrary to the Act, these rules and prevailing laws, the Directorate of Standards and Accreditation may cancel such accreditation at any time. But before canceling the accreditation in this way, the concerned educational institution should be given a reasonable opportunity to submit its clarifications.
