Section 131
Certain types of weapons cannot be obtained
(1) No person shall acquire, keep, stockpile, store and use, transport or export or import the following weapons by purchase or sale or by donation, gift, prize, share, gift or in any other manner without the order of the competent authority:-
(a) Armored vehicles (tanks) and their equipment,
(b) Cannon or mortar and its ammunition,
(c) Machine guns and their accessories,
(d) any type of rifle and its accessories,
(e) Other arms and their accessories prescribed by the authorized officer as not to be obtained or kept by the general public.
(2) The person who receives the handgun mentioned in sub-section (1) shall submit such handgun to the concerned district administration office within thirty-five days from the date of receiving such handgun.
(3) A person who commits or causes an offense under sub-section (1) shall be imprisoned for up to seven years and fined up to seventy thousand rupees.
(4) Notwithstanding anything written elsewhere in this section, the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, officers and soldiers of Nepal or other security personnel who are entitled to use arms according to the law shall not be considered to be hindered from keeping or using such arms in the course of performing their duties.
