Section 22
Acts done in fear are not blameworthy

(1) A person takes a dangerous weapon or a poisonous or explosive substance and shows fear of causing death or bodily injury to himself or his close relative if he does not do anything immediately, and if he does not do so immediately, there is a danger that he or his close relative may be killed or physically injured. Such an act committed by such a person with reasonable cause to believe that such act shall not be considered an offence. However, such act shall be considered an offense in the following cases:- (a) for causing death or maiming,
(b) For coercion,
(c) for committing an offense against the State, or
(d) If the person doing such an act is in a state of fear due to his own actions or due to his own actions.
(2) According to sub-section (1), a person who commits an offense out of fear and panic shall be punished according to the law as if he committed such an offense himself.
