Section 81
Reinsurance business
(1) Notwithstanding anything else contained in this Act: In relation to an insurer carrying on the business of reinsurance, the following provisions shall be as follows:-
(a) An insurer carrying on the business of reinsurance may accept reinsurance of insurance business, whether life or non-life.
(b) An insurer carrying on reinsurance business may accept reinsurance from a foreign insurance company or reinsurance company or give reinsurance to such insurance company. (c) Insurers operating in the country shall compulsorily re-insure with reinsurers established in the country at a rate not less than the percentage specified by the authority.
(2) An insurer carrying on reinsurance business may carry on such business himself or through an insurance broker.
(3) Regarding reinsurance business: Other provisions shall be as prescribed.
